“I played futsal growing up in Baurd. In futsal you need to think quick and play quick so its easier for you when you move to normal football.”

— Pelé
The origins of futsal date back to 1930 in Montevideo, Uruguay. A man by the name of Juan Carlos Ceriani, decided to create an indoor version of soccer for a local youth competition at the YMCA. The rules were simple: A 5v5 game played on a basketball sized court with no walls, and smaller sized goals.

Futsal, now played in multiple countries, is a fun, fast-paced version of soccer that requires technical prowess and quick thinking.

SEMSA will be hosting a Spring Break futsal clinic April, 2025. Each player will be assigned a 60 minute time slot on 4/16 and a 60 minute time slot on 4/17.

This clinic will teach players fundamental concepts of futsal; including passing, ball control, and ball manipulation. Sessions will also consist of games and small-sided scrimmages.
